Digital PoL regulator saves space in a SIP
The high power density, digital non-isolated PoL regulator’s vertically mounted single inline package (SIP) design saves board space, while delivering up to 80A output current, with a maximum power output of 198W.

The regulator is designed for telecomms and datacomms applications, with efficiency levels as high as 95.1% at 12Vin, 3.3Vout, full load.

The input voltage range is 6V to 15V, and the output voltage can be adjusted from 0.6V to 3.3V. For output voltages up to 1.8V, the BMR474 can deliver up to 80A output current. For output voltages over 1.8V the maximum output current is 60A. Ripple and noise is 5mV at 12Vin, 1Vout, full load.

The SIP module includes power connections optimised for high current to minimise resistive losses between the power module and the load. Efficiency and thermal design are optimised for minimum power derating. An optional heatsink can be added for more demanding applications, advises the company.

The BMR474 can be set up via its PMBus digital interface, which provides monitoring, configuration and control. It is also supported by Flex Power Modules’ Power Designer software for design and debug functions. The software’s simulation functions can be used for configuration parameters to achieve a stable control loop with a fast load transient response.

Operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C. The regulator meets IEC/EN/UL 62368-1 safety requirements and includes under-voltage, over-voltage, over-temperature and over-current protection. Mean time between failures (MTBF) is over 23 million hours.

The BMR474 is available from May in a SIP measuring 33 x 8.6 x 19mm (1.3 x 0.33 x 0.75 inches) with a footprint of 2.84cm2.

Samples are available now.
