Board-mount 5W AC/DC converter meets OVC III and PD3

The converter is for fixed installations where higher levels of transients, i.e. those rated to Over-Voltage Category III, are experienced, with increased environmental pollution levels.

The converters are available with 5.0, 12 or 15V single outputs and include enhanced clearances to meet OVC III up to an altitude of 5000m. Nominal input ratings are 100 to 277V AC but the converter will withstand 480V AC continuously without damage, according to the company. The series is rated for Pollution Degree 3 environments, where pollution can become conductive if condensation occurs.

The converters are protected against short circuits and over-voltage in case of internal abnormalities. It also meets EN 55032 Class B EMI emissions level (floating output), without external components. It also has no-load consumption of less than 0.5W.

The package is compact, with dimensions of 2.0 x 1.0 inch (50 x 25mm) and with a height of 1.0 inch (25mm). The converters operate up to 70°C in free air and up to 85°C (12V part) with 40% derating.

Certifications include IEC/EN 62368-1 and UL 61010-1.

The converters which can eliminate or at least significantly reduce the need for external suppression components, says the company. Target applications are in smart grid, renewable energy, smart metering and IoT systems, as well as monitoring food and beverage processing appliances.
