Logic output photocoupler achieves 10Mbit/s

The high-speed photocoupler is intended for 24V digital input programmable logic controller (PLC) and other measurement and control equipment.

It requires 4mA supply and is rated for a wide operating temperature range (-40 to 105). The threshold input current is specified between 0.3 and 2.4mA, ensuring it conforms to the digital input standard IEC 61131-2 type 1. Minimum isolation voltage is 3750Vrms. A bridge diode and a suitable resistor for current control complete the design. The propagation delay is 80ns, making it suitable for use with high-speed systems.

The photocoupler suppresses chatter noise, even with a slow-moving input signal of 60s or less with a long rising or falling edge, says the company. This means there is no need for any waveform shaping circuitry to save both cost and PCB area.

The device has a maximum height of 2.3mm and its common footprint allows designers to use it to replace products from other manufacturers.

The TLP2363 is shipping today.
