Load switch protects USB Type-C applications

The AOZ1353 is a current-limited load switch with reverse current blocking capability. It is designed for applications where internal circuitry requires protection from exposure to high voltages. The load switch offers low RDS(ON) (40mΩ) in a thermally enhanced 3.0 x 3.0mm DFN package, suitable for notebooks, ultra-books, desktops, monitors, dockings/dongles, and Thunderbolt/USB Type-C PD applications.

The switch operates between 3.4 and 5.5V from Vin and Vout  and is rated at 28V absolute maximum. The internal current limiting circuit protects the supply from large load currents, explains the company. The back-to-back switch configuration blocks any leakage between Vin and Vout pins when the device is disabled or when the device is enabled, but Vout is greater than Vin.

The AOZ1353 is programmable and includes soft start, short-circuit protection, thermal protection, over-current and over-voltage protection.

The AOZ1353 is immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 12 weeks.
