The controller has an embedded microcontroller with one-time programmable memory. It can be combined with the company’s complementary technology in offline chargers to deliver 18 to 33W and has low standby consumption to support Quick Charge, advises the company.
The AP43771 is the second generation of integrated controllers and includes support for USB PD revision 3.0 V1.1 and Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, 3.0 and 4/4 technology as well as battery charging (BC) revision 1.2.
AP43771 provides 18W when combined with the company’s AP39303 PWM switcher and APR34709 synchronous rectification (SR) switcher. The AP43771 provides a 33W charger when combined with the AP3303 PWM controller and APR347 SR controller.
The programmable power supply (PPS) feature was introduced with the latest version of the USB PD specification and can also be supported by AP43771. The controller can adjust the constant current and constant voltage (CC/CV) output driver in 50mA steps up to 6A and 20mV steps between 3.0 and 16V, respectively.
To meet the size and cost requirements for volume mobile charger applications, the controller is supplied in a small DFN30303-14 (3.0 x 3.0mm) package.
