The coreless structure does not exhibit hysteresis effects or saturation issues - typical side-effects associated with an iron core and also reduces the size and weight and makes mounting easier, added Murata. The differential measurement with two TMR-based elements gives immunity against external magnetic stray fields. This proprietary characteristic makes them suitable for use in environments with high levels of electromagnetic noise.
The accurare current sensing capabilities and the fast response that these devices can achieve also mean they are suitable for photovoltaic inverters, DC/DC converters, EV charging infrastructure and power conditioning systems.
The MRD current sensors comply with the UL62368-1 electrical equipment safety standard. The sensors are supplied in SOICW16 packages with galvanic isolation over 4.8kV.
