Integrated buck regulator module is compact for industrial automation
The integrated buck regulator module is available in a 9.0 x 6.0 x 3.7mm QFN 48-lead exposed pad package. It can deliver an output current of 3A with input voltage up to 30V and output voltage up to 5.5V.

The module comprises a controller IC, power MOSFET, rectifier diode, bootstrap capacitor and an inductor. Peak efficiency is up to 93%. When operating in low output current conditions, the module will run in a proprietary pulse energy mode (PEM) to achieve high efficiency by reducing switching loss. In this mode, the regulator can maintain 85% efficiency in 10mA light load operation making it suitable for ‘always on’ applications.

The module has cycle-by-cycle over-current protection, output over-voltage protection, output short circuit protection and over-temperature protection. According to the company, the number of external components required is minimal, offering the user the flexibility to choose soft-start time, operating frequency, external compensation and output voltage setting.

The modules is based on the company’s AOZ128x family of regulators which are used in a range of industrial applications such as factory automation and automated meter reading, explains Peter Cheng, power IC senior marketing director at Alphas and Omega Semiconductor.

The AOZ29303QI can be used in a variety of applications such as industrial, factory automation, networking, and general purpose point of load. It is immediately available in production quantities with a lead time of 12 weeks.
