Six new models have been added to the Genesys series which now provides incremental and seamless choices in output voltage and current ranging from 0 to 20V / 375A to 0 to 1500V / 5A.
Target applications for the 7.5kW power supplies are automotive testing which includes electric and hybrid cars, general test or research, measurement, semiconductor fabrication, battery manufacturing and renewable energy.
The six new models offer 0 to 30V / 250A, 0 to 60V / 125A, 0 to 80V / 94A, 0 to 200V / 37.5A, 0 to 300V / 25A and 0 to 1,000V / 7.5A. They can operate in constant current, constant voltage or constant power limit modes and offer internal resistance simulation. The units can be specified to accept three-phase 170 to 265V AC or wide range 342 to 528V AC inputs, with active power factor correction. Operating efficiencies are up to 92%.
System configurators can use the power supplies and not have to parallel lower wattage power supplies, reducing the rack or cabinet size, says the company. The power supplies use DSP and ferrite materials to obtain efficiencies of 91 to 92%. They also produce less internal waste heat for a higher power rating without compromising reliability, says TDK.
The power supplies are suitable for zero stack rack mounting. They measure 423 x 486.5mm and 43.6mm (1U) high. Variable speed fans monitor the ambient temperature and monitor the output load for lower audible noise, reducing operator fatigue. The power supply weighs less than 8.5kg.
All models in the Genesys series have a high contrast, wide viewing angle LCD with user controllable brightness and dimming functions. There is also user adjustable voltage and current slew rate control. Arbitrary waveform test profiles of up to 100 steps can be generated and stored in four memory cells and activated by commands from the communication ports or the front panel controls.
The patent pending advanced parallel system allows a multiple unit system to achieve a dynamic response and ripple and noise performance comparable to that of a single power supply. Up to 12 Genesys units can be connected in parallel by connecting a single data link cable between units and connecting the DC outputs. The command and auxiliary units auto-configure by detecting the parallel data connection and set their parameters accordingly.
Programming is either via front panel controls, remotely via LAN (LXI 1.5), USB 2.0, and RS232/485 communications, or by using the isolated analogue control and monitoring (0 to 5V, 0 to 10V), which are provided as standard. Optional interfaces include a choice of EtherCAT or Modbus-TCP or GPIB (IEEE488.2). The software package includes drivers, a waveform creator and a virtual front panel GUI.
The series complies with IEC/EN 61204-3 for conducted and radiated EMI and EMC immunity and is safety certified to IEC/EN/UL 61010-1 with CE and UKCA marking to the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives.
