ST Microelectronics and Geely sign supplier agreement for SiC power devices in EVs
Geely and STMicroelectronics have announced a long-term agreement with Geely Auto to accelerate the supply of silicon carbide (SiC) power devices for use in their mid-to-high end battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Since 2023, Geely have seen a year-on-year sales increase in new electric vehicles (NEVs) by 48%, with STs SiC infrastructure being an integral part in the operation of EV batteries.

Key details include:

  • The use of STs third generation SiC metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) within Geely’s electronic traction inverters, the key element within EV batteries, improving operational efficiency.
  • Expanded supply of ST devices to boost Geely’s new EV strategy with improved performance, faster charging speeds, and extended driving range
  • The establishment of a new joint lab, encouraging collaboration and cooperation to explore innovative solutions to automotive electronic/electrical architectures.
