DC/DC PoL converter powers FPGAs and CPUs for comms

The miniature, surface mount, PoL DC/DC converters in the MYMGK series are suitable for powering FPGAs and CPUs used in data, telecommunications and networking communications equipment, and in equipment using distributed bus architecture.

Measuring 9.0 x 7.5 x 5.0mm, the 6A MYMGK1R806FRSR has a programmable output voltage in the range 0.7 to 1.8V DC from a 5V DC input. The MYMGK00506ERSR model can deliver up to 6A output in the range 0.7 to 5.0V DC from a 12V DC nominal input.

The 20A models measure 10.5 x 9.0 x 5.6 mm and include the MYMGK1R820FRSR, operating from a 5V DC nominal input while the MYMGK1R820ERSR operates from a 12V DC nominal. The output voltage can be programmed from 0.7 to 1.8V DC.

Across the range, control signals include remote on/off and a power-good indication. Safety and protection features include under input voltage lock out (UVLO), output short circuit and output over-current.

The converters have a fast transient response, for compute intensive devices such as programmable logic, FPGAs and CPU, which demand high reliable power supplies. They also have a low core voltage high current supply and minimal external output capacitors to reduce board size.

Efficiency is typically between 87.8 and 95%, model- and load-dependent. They meet the industrial and telecomms requirements for size, efficiency and power density, especially in high temperature operating case with the thermal derating performance, says the company.
