Dual-phase DC/DC converter enables current sharing for up to 480A
The BMR467 is pin-compatible with Ericsson’s predecessor, the BMR465, but delivers 30A more current. The module is also compliant with new teraAMP standard developed by the AMP (Architects of Modern Power) Group.

Multiple modules can be connected in parallel to provide loads of up to 480A, for network processors that require high performance power delivery and software control. As a result, the module is ready for future software-defined power architecture (SDPA) systems, for energy-optimised network architectures.

The BMR467 PoL converter can be operated as a standalone unit delivering 120A at output voltages from 0.6V to1.8V, an output power up to 216W, or as part of a larger power system using processor boards.

Built on a two-phase topology, four modules can be connected in parallel to deliver up to 480A. The modules can bTecome part of a multi-module and multi-phase (up to eight-phase) power system that enables phase spreading, which reduces peak current and the number of capacitors required by end systems, says the company. The module can be configured with support available via the company’s downloadable Power Designer software tool.

Automatic digital compensation provides stability, accurate line and load regulation, and transient performance across a range of operating conditions, including switching frequency, input voltage, output voltage and output capacitance.

Offered in a SiP, measuring 50.8 x 19.05 x 8.2mm, the BMR467 offers power density of 15A/cm³ (250A/in³). The output voltage range is from 0.6 to 1.8V, adjustable via a pin-strap resistor or PMBus commands. Operation is from a 7.5 to 14V input, making the module suited to operation in distributed power and intermediate bus voltage architectures, in advanced networking, telecommunications, server and storage applications. Power efficiency is 93.2% at 12Vin, 1.8Vout at half load. MTBF is 10.49million hours and protection features including input-under-voltage and over-voltage shutdown, output over-current and over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, and remote control and power-good pins.
