Buck regulators for 48V direct to PoL have a BGA option

The regulator complements the existing PI354x-00-LGIZ LGA series from the company. The ZVS topology enables 48V direct to PoL without sacrificing performance claims the company. Step-down regulation from a higher voltage source enables engineers to be able to deploy more efficient power distribution architectures, reduce I2R losses, and eliminate costly and inefficient intermediate conversion stages, adds the company.

The latest regulator operates from 36 to 60V in and regulates an output voltage ranging from 2.2 to 14V and delivers an output current up to 10A. Power delivery can be further increased by using single wire current sharing without any additional components, adds the company.

The PI354x series is designed for a range of applications leveraging higher voltage distribution, such as telecomms, network infrastructure, data centres, industrial, battery, and lighting applications.

When used with the Vicor front-end products and factorised power products, the PI354x series enables a power chain from AC or HVDC (200V ) source to PoL. The series expands the Vicor Power Component Design Methodology.

The BGA package measures 10.5 x 10.5mm.
