Flyback controller minimises EMI in LED drivers
The XDPL8219 operates in quasi-resonant mode (QRM) to maximise efficiency and minimise EMI over a wide load range and has active burst mode (ABM) at light load to prevent audible noise. No-load standby power level is below 100mW.

The flyback controller detects the input voltage type (AC or constant DC) and adjusts its proprietary voltage-mode pulse modulator to enhance system performance. For AC input, the device alters the pulse modulation to achieve a high power factor (above 0.9) as well as low total harmonic distortion (<10%) over a wide input and load range. For a constant DC input, adapting pulse modulation produces an adjusted switching frequency to reduce EMI over the entire operating range.

Parameters can be configured via a universal asynchronous receiver transmitter (UART) pin. UART signals are optionally transmitted to provide data on input voltage, line frequency, controller temperature, last error code and input voltage loss.

There are also programming tools, including a graphic user interface (GUI), to configure the controller.  

The XDPL8219 is housed in a DSO-8 package with a built-in 600V HV start-up cell and a proprietary start-up sequence for a fast output voltage rise with minimal overshoot.
