Automatically resettable SM mini-breaker TCO is Bourns’ smallest to date

The footprint is just 4.7 x 2.8mm and just 0.94mm high. It is designed to control abnormal, excessive temperature virtually instantaneously, up to rated limits, for over-temperature protection in a range of applications including LED systems, wireless charging coils, motors, and for a variety of PCB components. It can also be used as an over-temperature sensor.

It complements Bourns' Model SD Series with features and functionality that meet lower current protection application requirements. There is a trip temperature setting of 70°C ±5°C, with maximum resistance values of 5mΩ. For wireless charging applications, the mini-breaker model can operate up to 100V peak (AC 128kHz). The device is manufactured using the company’s highest rated corrosion-resistant, bi-metal mechanism and is designed to withstand humid environments.

The Model SW mini-breaker device is available now and is RoHS-compliant.
