Wide input DC/DC converters can be used for rail
They have an 18:1 wide input of 8.5 to 160V DC and measure just 50.8 x 25.4mm and 10.2mm high (2.0 x 1.0 inches and 0.4 inches high). The plastic case is silicone potted for a high level of resistance to shock and vibration, says the company. The converters are suitable for applications requiring EN 50155 (the standard for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock). The converters are also suitable for industrial and measurement equipment requiring battery back up or a DC source.
There are three nominal single outputs - 5.0, 12 and 15V - adjustable over a -20 to 10% range for non-standard voltages. Three dual fixed output models, ±12, ±15 and ±24V, are also available and can be configured to operate as a single 24, 30 and 48V outputs.

All models have over-current, output over-voltage and over-temperature protection with remote on/off as standard. Efficiencies are up to 90% and the converters operate at -40 to 105°C with derating at high temperatures. The input to output isolation is 3,000V AC.
In addition to EN 50155, the PYD20 series has been certified to the IEC / UL / CSA / EN 62368-1 safety standards with the CE and UKCA marks for the Low Voltage and RoHS Directives.
