Recom bases RPxx-RAW on its circuit and thermal design expertise

The RPxx-RAW converters are cost-effective, says the company, with a wide input range of 36 to 160V DC (200V for 1s). It has a section of single and dual outputs: 3.3, 5.0, 12, 15, 24, ±5.0, ±12 and ±15V.

DC/DC converters for rail applications typically operate from 72, 96 or 110V DC nominal input with dips and surges, explained Recom. The three models in the series are the RP03-RAW series rated at 3W output, the RP06-RAW (6W) and the RP10-RAW (10W). All parts are in a common through-pin encapsulated DIP24 industry standard format 31.8 x 20.3 x 10.6mm.

The RPxx-RAW series incorporates circuit and thermal design techniques resulting in high efficiency and low internal temperature rises and operation to high ambient temperatures at full load, convection cooled without derating - 90°C for the RP03-RAW, 85°C for the RP06-RAW and 75°C for RP10-RAW. With derating, all parts operate up to 105°C. Full protection is included against input under-voltage, over-temperature, output over-voltage, short circuits, and over-current. A shutdown control is also provided.

Isolation rating is reinforced 3kV AC and the DC/DC converters are certified to EN50155 and IEC/EN/UL62368 and the Canadian equivalent. EN55032 class A EMC specification is met without additional components while class B level can be met with the addition of three small, external capacitors.

In addition to railway applications, the DC/DC converters can be used in wider industrial environment where higher supply voltages are used, such as in battery management systems, electric forklift trucks, and IoT sensors, says the company.

Parts include a three-year warranty, samples, and OEM pricing are available from all authorised distributors or directly from Recom.
