The company says it offers cutting-edge features designed to meet the growing demand for efficient sensor applications by providing an ultra-compact and simple solution.
Nisshinbo says the IO-Link transceiver is fully compliant with IO-Link communication standards, supporting the Com1 to Com3 data rates, offering a versatile solution for a wide range of industrial sensors and actuators, programmable logic controllers and light curtain applications. Its ability to configure high-side, low-side, and push-pull output operations, controlled by two specific inputs, ensures compatibility across various industrial platforms, providing customers with flexibility in system design.
The ND1160 is designed with simplicity in mind and includes the transceiver functions only, without any complementary circuits, offering a compact solution for designers looking for the integration of IO-Link functionality into their systems without complexity. With a wide operating voltage range of 8.5V to 36V, and an output current of 200mA, it is sufficient to deliver reliable performance across a range of environments. It is equipped with several protection circuits including UVLO, overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, and reverse polarity protection, ensuring robust operational safety and durability. Additionally, Wake and Fault flag signal outputs are present, as well as a Receiver output to establish proper communication to the MCU.
One has an option to select between the regular DFN3030-8-GG package and ultra-compact version in WLCSP-12-ZA1 (under development), the latter reduces the PCB mounting area by 55.8%. This miniaturisation makes the transceiver well suited for even the smallest IO-Link enabled sensors.
