The LDO (low dropout) regulator is designed for mobile device power supplies. It offers a typical dropout voltage of just 92mV (at 0.9V, 1.0A) and is supplied in a WCSP6F package measuring just 0.8 x 1.2 x 0.33mm (maximum).
The regulator can be used in a variety of applications including Wi-Fi chipsets for smartphones and tablets and power supplies for cameras and RF modules. It can also be used for power supply control designs in wearable devices, notebook PCs, digital video cameras, storage products and set-top boxes. An external bias power supply terminal (VBAT), enables the regulator to achieve the low typical dropout voltage, says the company.
The WCSP6F package is the industry’s leading-class small package for 1.3A LDO regulators, making the regulator suitable for mobile and module applications that require small footprints and low profiles. A typical ripple rejection ratio of 90dB at 0.9V, 1kHz can help reduce ripple noise from DC/DC converters and power management ICs; both common problems when trying to supply power to camera and RF parts.
Using an external resistor, the output voltage of the regulator can be adjusted over a wide range of 0.55 to 3.6V. Integrated security features include over-current protection, over-temperature protection, built-in inrush current control and an auto-discharge function.
