LDO regulators are designed for space-constrained products
The TCR3RM LDO voltage regulators are suitable for portable and wearable devices, such as sensors, RF devices and IoT applications or any applications where board space is at a premium and which require high-density mounting, advises the company.

The LDO voltage regulators are in a plastic DFN4C package which measures just 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.38mm. There are 32 models in the series, with fixed single output voltages from 0.9 to 4.5V DC.

The TCR3RM regulators have a high ripple rejection ratio characteristic of, typically, 100dB at 1.0kHz measured with a 2.8V output. This, says Toshiba is significantly less than in typical regulators, where ripple rejection ratio are expected to drop 20dB every 10-fold increase in frequency. In these regulators, the rejection ratio is 68dB at 1.0MHz and 2.8V output. The ripple rejection, combined with low noise credentials, typically 5µV rms at 10Hz ≤ f ≤ 100kHz, contribute to power supply line stability and voltage accuracy to address electrical noise, particularly in DC/DC converters.

Maximum output current is 300mA, and bandgap circuit, low pass filter and low-noise, high speed operational amplifier all contribute to ripple rejection and output noise specifications.

The dropout voltage is typically 130mV at 2.8V / 300mA output and input voltages across the series range from 1.8 to 5.5V. The regulator includes over-current protection, auto-discharge, and thermal shutdown safety features.
