The analogue EiceDRIVER 1ED34xx and digital 1ED38xx gate driver ICs provide a typical output current of 3.0, 6.0 and 9.0A, precise short-circuit detection, a Miller clamp and soft turn-off.
The analogue 1ED34xx gate driver IC also offers an adjustable desaturation filter time and soft turn-off current with external resistors. These features combine to accelerate design cycles due to a lower external component count, says the company. The digital 1ED38xx gate driver IC provides I2C configurability for multiple parameters. This increases design flexibility, reduces hardware complexity and shortens evaluation time, explains the company.
The gate drivers are suitable for industrial applications, including industrial drives, solar systems, uninterruptible power supplies and electric vehicle (EV) chargers.
Both families are designed for IGBTs, SiC and Si MOSFETs in discrete and module packages. The output current of up to 9.0A eliminates the need for external booster components, says the company, while common mode transient immunity (CMTI) is more than 200kV/µs, which avoids faulty switching patterns.
Devices in the two families feature a 40V absolute maximum output supply voltage and a tight propagation delay matching of 30ns (max) for a shorter dead time. The I2C configuration options for the 1ED38xx include short circuit detection, soft turn off, under-voltage lockout (UVLO), a Miller clamp and over-temperature shutdown. The 1ED38xx gate driver family also offers a two-level turn-off through software settings.
Both gate drivers families are provided in a small DSO-16 fine pitch package with 8.0mm creepage. They are UL 1577-certified for 5.7kV RMS and can exploit precise thresholds and timings for application safety.
The gate driver ICs are available to order now, and Infineon also offers the EVAL-1ED3491MX12M evaluation board.
